Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pinly (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application (the “App”).
By using Pinly, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the core functionality of the App.
- Location Data (on-device): If you grant location permissions, the App uses your device’s location to enable geofence-based reminders (e.g., notify when you enter/exit a region). Pinly stores your location-based pins (latitude/longitude) and geofence radius that you create. Your real-time location is not transmitted to us.
- Reminder Data (on-device): Pins and reminders you create (title, note, tags, type, time, repeat settings, and optional expiry) are stored on your device. Timed reminders schedule local notifications.
- App Preferences (on-device): Settings such as appearance, language, unit preferences, quiet hours, and other feature toggles are stored locally.
- Purchase Information (Apple): We use Apple’s StoreKit for in-app purchases and subscriptions. Apple may provide us with limited, anonymized transaction data necessary to validate your purchase and unlock Pro features. We do not receive or store your full payment information.
- iCloud (optional): If enabled, the App may back up your pins/reminders to your personal iCloud account using Apple’s infrastructure. This is optional and controlled by you. We do not have direct access to your iCloud account or contents.
- Diagnostics and Logs (on-device): The App may maintain basic, ephemeral logs (e.g., last save time, monitoring restarts) on-device to help you troubleshoot. These logs are not transmitted to us.
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs. We do not sell your personal data.
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Provide core features (location-based alerts, timed reminders, tags, search).
- Maintain and improve the App (e.g., local persistence, reliable notifications).
- Process and validate purchases through Apple’s StoreKit.
- Optionally back up or restore your data using your iCloud account.
3. Data Storage and Security
- On-Device Storage: Pins/reminders and preferences are stored on your device (e.g., using secure local storage and system frameworks like SwiftData and JSON files for fallback).
- iCloud (Optional): If enabled, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple’s security and privacy policies.
- We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data. We do not share your personal data with third parties except:
- Apple Services: For notifications, in-app purchases, and iCloud backup/restore (via Apple frameworks).
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government request, we may disclose information as necessary.
5. Your Choices and Controls
- Permissions: You can manage location and notification permissions in your device settings.
- Data Export/Import: You can export or import pins/reminders (Pro feature).
- iCloud Backup: You can enable/disable iCloud backup and manage iCloud storage via your Apple ID settings.
- Delete Data: You can delete individual pins/reminders or reset all data from within the App’s settings. Deleting the App removes locally stored data from your device.
6. Children’s Privacy
Pinly is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. International Users
Your data may be processed on your device and via Apple’s infrastructure in the region(s) Apple operates. By using the App, you consent to the processing and storage of your information in these locations.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance.
